The Director of Special Occasion Wear Anita Pilkington combines the experience of Clothing Design with a traditional understanding of Garment Construction. Previously Anita has specialised in the areas of Garment Design, Garment Technology, Pattern Cutting/Grading and Sample Making.
Anita studied Fashion and Design from the age of fourteen, by the age of 16 she was designing and making clothing for friends and family and also completing clothing alterations for local clothing retailers.
Anita has obtained many qualifications which include a Higher National Diploma in Fashion. After completing her studies Anita worked for many companies in the areas of Clothing Design, Pattern Cutting/Grading and Garment Technology these are the Arcadia Group, Marks and Spencer, Great Universal Studios, Jane Norman, Pilot Clothing, Littlewood’s and many more.
Anita has also worked as a College Lecturer and taught Pattern Cutting, Dressmaking and Soft Furnishings.
Anita’s passion in the area of Bridal Wear began when she designed and made her sisters 1950’s inspired wedding gown at the age of 18, this gave Anita the inspiration to design and create many wedding dresses for various clients for over 35 years, her designs encompass up to date trends with the more traditional vintage styling to create beautiful traditional styling with a modern twist.
Anita has previously owned a Bridal Wear business in Hindley, Wigan where she provided many bride’s with beautifully fitting gowns. Going forward Anita is now specialising what she enjoys the most, this includes Bridal Wear Alterations Wedding Dress Re-constructions, hand made Wedding Accessories Christening Gowns and Pattern Cutting/Sample Making. Anita is working from her studio and also providing a mobile service where the customer can have their consultations and fittings completed in the comfort of their home.
